Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
Well I am a Huge Afro fan, and I still listen to his music all the time. I have been to numerous shows, and driven countless hours to see him live. When I listen to Afro's music, it just gets me in a good mood. I listen to him before I go to school, before work, while exercising, while smoking etc....I think that rap has gone downhill because all of the rappers these days just talk about the same shit: Screwin bitches, having tons of money, being a badass etc. But afro is different. His music is feel good music. I love all of his albums before "Waiting to Inhale".
I am tired of hearing all of this parody stuff. And I am also tired of how he just keeps making songs about screwing women. It gets old. I miss the songs like "I've been hustlin, Hittin' Switches, You Ain't my friend, Graveyard Shift, Bacc on the Bus" etc.... I wanna hear about him chillin with friends, smoking, drinking, and selling drugs! That is the Afroman that I love!
A parody song once in a while is fine, but Afro is so talented that he doesn't need to waste his time with that shit. He is a hell of a guitar player and can flow so well. He is a talented artist; no more of these parody songs and songs about women!
All of you on this website are Afroholics, and please respond to my post. Tell me what you think!

more stories coming up
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
if he is making shit up . he is dam good at it. and i would come everyday to hear that shit.
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
For real, someone should contact Wierd Al about it.
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
Why not? Wierd Al kicks ass. Not only is his music funny as hell, he's a great musician. I would love to hear him do a parody of "Because I Got High". I bet Fro would love it too.......royalty checks!
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
I know, it was uncalled for ;] But what can I say, I love the originals, not the parodies. Me bein here should prove there is no disrespect
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
Whoa whoa....You can't put Afro's name in the same sentence as Weird Al. LOL cmon' man. I dont think anybody has ever compared them two.

Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
I honestly will never be a fan of Waiting to Inhale (or the christmas songs). It was entertaining for a while, but just like every other fan i was hoping to see fro bust out with more ingenious shit, not cover pop songs and funny songs. But you know what, i'm sure theyv'e heard it all before, and he can make whatever the fâ¢ck he wants: proven. But we know youre capable of ridiculous shit as an artist..
Now that i checked out Frobama, i know he's back with us. and I'm sure the best is yet to come. It was hit dead-on earlier: Sell Your Dope will live forever -- fro took us on adventures as good as slick rick, but they were more fun. FRO you are way better than WEIRD AL im glad you didnt persue that path! ;) Lead the way with your lightweight-but-heavy flows; and we will follow by the light of your bluntpiece
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
I'm not dissapointed with afromans new album at all. ive not been disapointed yet...even with his second christmas album...how many people release 2 christmas albums...lol
what are you guys talking about... u do kno who afroman is right, like what were u expecting. One of the best thnigs about afroman is that he doesnt rap like 50 cent about guns and stuff no1 can relate to.
anyone who didnt like his new album doesnt really like afroman, waiting to inhale was the embodiment of afroman. In you rpussy was a legand of a song as was girl from kentucky. I feel good was arguably one of his best songs ever.
pobitch i didnt love cause i dont like it wen my homeboy is bitter, he needs to rise above people whp piss him off.
as for the parady songs i kno all about u was awsome. so out of 5 its deffo not a 2 1/2. it was pure afroman, if ya love him ya gotta love that album, lol ask not what afroman can do fro you...but what you can do for afroman, aka enjoy the music baby.

Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
Oh, and I also gotta agree with the "even if he's makin shit up" comment. My favorite story-telling track of all-time is of Biggie's Life after Death CD called Niggas Bleed. Sick song even though it's completely made up.
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
"Just My Paranoia" is actually a parody of an old Temptations' song "Just My Imagination"
My favorite Afroman stuff is everything up to 4ro:20. I love songs like "Bacc on the Bus", "Graveyard Shift" "Mississippi" etc.. and the one where he does his impression of Willie Nelson and Robert Smith.
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
no conspiracies there... i updated the forum several times over the past few years... some of them caused us to lose member and post information.. i assure you that wasn't calculated... it was a major pain in the ass to be honest..
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
I hate to say it, but I agree. I'm not feeling Afroman's recent stuff at all, to the point that it's almost messing with my opinion of his early stuff.
I consider Sell Your Dope a Hip Hop Classic! The album is sick and, you're right, Afroman cranked out some of the greatest story-telling tracks of all-time on this CD. Palmdale is sick. I love Sell your Dope and Strugglin and Strivin. Let me Out and Hungry Hustler are great and the CD ends with the fantastic God Has Smiled on Me.
I won't be buying Waiting to Inhale. I previewed the tracks on amazon and Dicc hang low and My Chunk are embarassingly bad. Afroman's stuff after the Good Times CD has been hit and miss. Sometimes I hear a track and it reminds of the old classic 'Fro music and I get pumped, but to get to those tracks, I have to rumage through a lot of songs that have no business being released. I wonder if Afroman would've been better off staying with Universal and have them manage his direction a little better.
Afroman is a sick story-teller rapper, but he becomes completely average (or even worse) when he's just spitting generic rap. He has the same basic flow and the same basic rhymes on every song.
I gotta agree with the original poster that Afroman needs to stop with these dopey parody songs and get back to what made him so great to begin with.
Just My Paranoia off the Even Better Times CD is a perfect example of the type of song that made me love Afroman. Even when he chooses a humorous topic like Paranoia from weed, when he does his verses in story-telling form, there aren't many rappers around who can beat him. "They think I don't see 'em, but yes I do, they some haters, actin like they pickin tomatos"
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
i would had loved this album if ya know if would have been less sex and more party, smoking weed, drinking beer songs. im not sure what the song was called cuz i only have the actual cd not the case but, the song he sand about palmdale was amazing, prollythe best on the album. reminds me of his older stuff, a lot of heart and soul
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
R_M...it sucks you didn't care for it...but no worries. I'm glad you're postin' and keepin' this board alive. ...Be on the lookout for something new droppin' around 4/20, quite possibly on a major label. I'm hearin' rumblings of a new album called "Fro's Greatest Hit" and it's not a greatest hits album. I may be able to get more detail around mid-March and i'll be happy to share.

Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
Im pretty sure no one wanted a 17 track album dedicated to fro's sex life, sure some of it was funny but other was just not good at all (luther vandross type love song). i think more people wanna hear shit like g'd up and hitting switches. This just seemed like a full album dedicated to Too $hort's "Cocktails" out of 5 stars i would give this album a 2 1/2
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
is Crazy Rap 2 still floatin around??
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
One of Fro's most popular songs is Crazy Rap. Rap fans and non rap fans alike are familar with Crazy Rap and Because I got high. What's Crazy Rap about? That's right, Fuckin'! The new album is something new that was probably intended to play off the success from Crazy Rap. I mean, I've been to alot of shows and everyone knows the words to Crazy Rap. The crowd goes wild. Fro gave the people what they wanted....an album about fuckin'!
don't trip though....I hear Fro is recordin' some pimp shit that'll possibly drop on 4/20.
Stay posted!

Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
word. i posted an identical message two days after that shit dropped. my account was subsquently "lost" days later when the new forum was created.
afro is a great story-teller. i don't even care if he's makin' shit up, but it's almost like he's out of material from his bangin' days. give me palmdale part 2.
Re: Disapointed with Afro's new stuff...
I think it would be cool if Afroman did an album with a band. it would sound something like the song he did with us at http://www.myspace.com/jrshighrollers
