The State of Things
Its kind of sad.
I do so miss how things were, say, two maybe three years ago.
One of the most talented performers, and favorite artists I have ever seen in my life has slipped away into obscurity.
I just didn't enjoy the "new" album(s), didn't feel his new touring set-up that doesn't include at least some of the ungodly talent he has worked with in the past, and I don't agree with his laissez faire attitude with what used to be a ridiculously devote fan base.
Not to mention the hundreds of broken promises. I understand that when running a business, things aren't just magically as you want them to be, but we were promised so much and given so not jack shit. Where was the street team overhaul? What happen to slaughter!!!!? Did we even get those Afro-Papers? I know we did get a lame parody album and DnH, but it's not the re-press of BIGH and SYD or 'Fucc the Corporate World'.
I guess it's just that so much potential was wasted. The funk band setup was THE SINGLE BEST LIVE SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN. Funky, Jodi, and Mixxx can not be equated. When he was rolling with the HH crew, those were some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life.
Now, all you have is a man who has ruined his previously amazing vocals with too many blunts doing uninspired parody songs. He can't even "buccoooccc" anymore. I really hate jumping on the sell-out-bus, but when he's touring as much as he is without any real new content to speak of, i don't know what else to think.
I miss the days, i really do. A little paper square or two, forty blunt wraps, two ounces plus the HH crew made for some really unforgettable experiences, and I'm glad I get to keep those. But as it stands, I have no desire to go to any fro shows, buy any new fro albums, and I don't even listen to his classic shit anymore; it just depresses me.
I'm really not trying to rag on him or start shit that doesn't need to be started, I'm just voicing my opinion and disappointment. I guess I was hoping after that whole Po-Boy fall out that shit would get back together... maybe some new albums, a few 'fro posts on the boards, a new street team... but it all just kinda stopped.
So you might ask why I bother posting this here? I equate it to driving by an ex-girlfriends house just for the sake of driving by. We've all done that, right? Or maybe I'm still hoping against hope that shit will take a turn for the better...
And to anyone who knew me in the hay-day...I miss you guys... seriously.

I don't know what you're talking talking about, his latest album was dope, ofc. you can't beat an hyped up album, but it's still afro, it are still joke songs and shit. I still put "A Colt .45 Christmas" on christmas holidays.
Hey fro, if you can't get a deal on an album.. Record that shit @home yourself and put it on iTunes. It's time for a new album bro.

POEM
Darling, As nothing I have written or will ever do, seems to move your cold heart a single tick, I came to believe that the problem lies in me and my writing, not in your probable warm heart, so I thought to borrow some of the greatest LOVE poems ever written by others, I hope they don’t mind using their special products for someone else’s purpose and need. (by the way, I did fix a spelling error in this poem, it’s not the perfect writer’s off course, must be the publisher’s)
As you see I will never halt whatever effort to make you realize how much I need you! Perhaps, your heart will never lean from the rigid state it took against its sole soul mate, however do I have another choice?
But came the waves and washed it away:
Again I wrote it with a second hand,
But came the tide, and made my pains his prey.
Vain man, said she, that dost in vain assay
A mortal thing so to immortalize!
For I myself shall like to this decay,
And eke my name be wiped out likewise.
Not so (quoth I), let baser things devise
To die in dust, but you shall live by fame:
My verse your virtues rare shall eternize,
And in the heavens write your glorious name;
Where, whenas death shall all the world subdue,
Our love shall live, and later life renew.
Edmund Spenser
Not marble, nor the gilded monuments
Of princes shall outlive this powerful rhyme;
But you shall shine more bright in these contents
Than unswept stone besmeared with sluttish time.
When wasteful war shall statues overturn,
And broils root out the work of masonry,
Nor Mars his sword nor war’s quick fire shall burn
The living record of your memory.
‘Gainst death and all oblivious enmity
Shall you pace forth: your praise shall still find room
Even in the eyes of all posterity
That wear this world out to the ending doom.
So, till the judgment that yourself arise,
You live in this, and dwell in lovers’ eyes.
Or I shall live your epitaph to make,
Or you survive when I in earth am rotten;
From hence your memory death cannot take,
Although in me each part will be forgotten.
Your name from hence immortal life shall have,
Though I, once gone, to all the world must die:
The earth can yield me but a common grave,
When you entombed in men’s eyes shall lie.
Your monument shall be my gentle verse,
Which eyes not yet created shall o’er-read,
And tongues to be your being shall rehearse
When all the breathers of this world are dead;
You still shall live–such virtue hath my pen–
Where breath most breathes, even in the mouths of men.

"i refuse to be like ice t and act like a adolescent gangster when im an old man frobama was a party album at the time i did not feel like writing about my personal life ive come to the conclusion that no one cares about ones personal problems i will write more about my personal life and what life has taught me."
Yeah, it's awesome that you don't pretend to be something you are not. I think that was one of your biggest appeal to your fans. Your music sounded true and genuine.
But I would disagree that people don't like to hear about your personal life. People eat that $hit up! :) Em made a career of it. I feel like I lost touch with you in the last few albums. Hell, this is just my opinion and I'm just one of many fans, but I would love to hear more storytelling raps about your current life and your life after Universal. You're married? Divorced? Kids? Afroman - Married Life. That's like 5-6 songs right there that no other rapper really raps about...... married life, kids, etc.
Nobody wants you to be something you're not. Sell Your Dope was a classic, but that is a past life so I understand you don't want to rap about it any more. And that's cool. But lets hear about your new struggles. You're one of the greatest story-telling rappers of all times (God has Smiled on me, Paranoid, Strugglin & Strivin, There's a Price 2 pay, and countless more). Those are CLASSICS!!! Among the best ever! I think you're selling yourself short by putting out "generic rap" with generic lines and generic rhymes that 10,000 rappers can spit. I want to hear YOU in the songs.
You have it in you. I'll be eagerly awaiting the next classic album. Be real. Spill your guts. A 10-13 song classic.
And if you got upset reading my post, I didn't mean it that way. And WTF do I know anyways. I still bump your old CDs all the time.
A-E-I-O-U...... and sometimes W!!! :)

when i sold dope i sung about it,im glad you like the old album.im a e40 fan i like his old stuff his new stuff is semi eperimental i like a song here a song there but the world is bigger than me.his new albums are bigger than his old.im not selling dope anymore.im 35yrs old 80yrs old in the head i refuse to be like ice t and act like a adolescent gangster when im an old man frobama was a party album at the time i did not feel like writing about my personal life ive come to the conclusion that no one cares about ones personal problems i will write more about my personal life and what life has taught me.i realized that some people get inspiration from my lyrical testimonies.you might be one of those imposible want to be simon mother fuccaz if thats the case thanx for your previous intrest and good bye.
Re: The State of Things
I'll check this web site a couple times a year and it's nice to see the new design, but the content is already outdated (like the tour dates on the main page).
I see Afroman has a new album out. I'll have to preview the songs on youtube but from what I have heard, I'm not impressed. I guess it's finally sunk in for me that the old Afroman is dead and gone.
All the new songs I've heard sound the same to me. It's the same beats with the same basic flow. I consider Sell Your Dope and the Good Times among my favorite albums of all-time, so it makes me a little sad that I just can't connect with the new stuff.
The albums sound like they were quickly thrown together. There's also way too many mediocre songs that are released. Because I got High had 10 songs and Sell Your Dope had 13, and that's all they needed to be superior albums. Afroholic had 30+ songs and I see the new album has 20+. I would prefer for the mediocre stuff to be thrown out and for Afroman to focus on putting out a SOLID album of 10-15 songs. Spend more time with the lyrics and the production on a fewer amount of songs.
Afroman, if you read this, I'm not trying to hate. I'm a huge fan of your early stuff and I'll keep checking back as you release new material. Your rap was unique and interesting and I wish you luck going forward.

Re: The State of Things
Well havent been on here in a while, if your from back in the day you know who I am right Coop? Anyway I have loved your new albums, and Colt40fiva is a badass song and one of my favorites as well, and Frobama was pretty damn good too Marijuana and Malt Liquor, and I Dont Wanna Leave, and East Side Palmdale are probly my favorites on that one, but they are all pretty damn good. I havent seen a show since Fro was with the Hungry Hustlers, not that I dont want to but I live in AZ and he was never close enough for me to hit it up so dont know how they are now im assuming there still badass. Afro the Hungry Hustlers and Tha 2Zigg Zaggs was an amazing show with talent everywhere but if there back stabbing bitches then FUCK EM... I do miss the whole street team thing but it is Afros business to run so let him run it his way Slaughter was cool as fuck tho, but if he was part of the back stabbing then hes in that same boat. We all became a part of this forum Afroman fans right? So why take the side of some back stabbing Ma Fucker that Afro tried to help out by putting them out there in the 1st place and they took advantage and stabbed him in the back? Any way im drunk and rambling on so ill quit it at that....
And Fro If you read this I plan on getting a money order sent out for all those cds when I start workin, but I was wonderin if any of those Mixtapes had the song Pimpin' From A Skyscaper, you had that shit on your Myspace before Frobama came out and I loved that track and was hopin it was on there. I been listenin to KFRO lately and Marijuana Music sounds like a dope cd. Also I still really wanna hear that Gospel cd you made if theres ever any chance of that??? And shout out to u true blue Afroholics like Compton Cooper whats up???
Anyway LOVE PEACE AND AFRO GREASE FROEVER!!!!!!!

Re: The State of Things
What up J-Boy?? Thats what I'm hoping--people get over it. I'd like to get back into the swing of things, get all these (5?) undergound albums Fro is apparently selling, and do it OLD SKOOL. 'obtained' the Frobama until I can get my hands on a physical copy (these MP3s suck ass). I am totally down. Awesome shit.
Re: The State of Things
What's up Dragonmere? Shit happens, people get over it.
Ain't no thang, but a chicken wing.
Re: The State of Things
I dunno how well I can articulate the entire scenario, but I'll give it a-go. Alright, here's the deal... I think I posted some of this information a long time ago, but I wanna get it all in one post so I can feel like I explained myself.
September 05 my best friend in the world (to this day) took her own life. Needless to say, that left me very pissed off for a very very long time. I felt really alone and shitty, and going to Afroman concerts was something we had a great time doing back in the day, so i continued to go to all the shows possible, kick it as hard core as possible, etc. etc. Thats how I met Rodney "PoBoy Blazze" Ashford. He was the one who physically got me into the show that night, and we ended up kicking it for awhile.
This is significant because a few months (? maybe longer... time frames for a few years following 9/05 are screwed up) later, the 'diss-track' shit hit the fan. Lets just leave it at that, because I really don't know all the facts about all that bullshit, and it is way in past anyway so fuck it. Right?
The reason I initally took Rodney's side is because I was lonely as fuck, and we actually shot emails back and forth on a regular basis. Fro never remebered my name at shows, despite the fact that his crew usually did. Even though I half wanted to - taking Fro's side would mean giving up one of the few 'friends' i had at the time. I was also feeling self destructive, and was working on burning bridges from my past. Dunno exactly why i did it, but not just on here. I really don't have many of friends that I had before I lost my best friend...
This Po-over-Fro decision was further solidified when a while later... PoBoy came and lived with me for a few weeks. At first it was fun and all, but truth be told, he caused alot of shit with my other friends when he was here. Besides that, we haven't really talked since he left. Except for once or twice when he hit me up because he's short on cash. Literally. Whatever.
I think awhile after he left is when I posted this thread in the first place. Again, timelines might be screwed up, not intentionally. I dunno why even. I think I was pissed off that Rodney had cut me off, and was missing some 'fro in my life. I don't fuckin know. I was pissed off, yes, about the state of things, but there was no need for me to post shit like this. Did it accomplish anything, not really.
Well maybe... All I wanted was recognition from Fro. I had been going to shows for a LONG LONG time, engaging in all sorts of recreational activities to the tune of probably about an elbow or more in total, and I had no indication that he knew who I was.
So... years later, I finally get a response right from the horses mouth. And you know what? The state of things NOW? Live album kicks ass, literally gave me goosebumps and flashbacks to passing out side-stage at Peabody's last time I seen him. Haven't got Frobama yet, but I love what I've heard. Infact is this the album I have been waiting for since about '01 when I heard it in Athens in Fro's hotel room??
So I guess I got my recognition, be it positive or negative (honestly, dragonqueer, gotta love it. ha). I really don't give a shit about how I felt whenever I posted the first thread. Things change, obviously. If fro decides to play Cleveland, Athens, Columbus, or anywhere in between, I will be there, prepared to do it Old-School with anyone else who is on these boards.
In short, I am sorry, Joseph Foreman. I appologize for venting on you the way I did. While I am entitled to hold any opinion I please, I don't think I had to put it all out there exactly how I did, after being such a 'devoted' fan. I really don't feel that way anymore, but due to the wonders of the internet, that shit is there for the world to see.
Again, Fro, I'm sorry. Come back to oHIGHo and lets kick it. Buccoooocc!
And to any who are STILL on the boards from the old old old school days, WHATS UP?? GET AT ME!
Re: The State of Things
AMEN
Re: The State of Things
That's exactly how I feel. Like you said, a lot of groups change. Dr. Dre and snoop dogg's music has seen some of the biggest changes in hip hop, going from the old school west coast style to the more contemporary styles. I like snoop dogg, he still keeps to his old skool west coast crip loco roots, but his music isn't as gangsta as it used to be and even dabbled in country. Some has worked for him, some hasn't. I loved Waiting to Inhale, and some of the parody songs I love more than someof his original songs. Colt 40fiva is one of my all time favorite songs next to cali swingin and let me out. But at the same time, someof the fuckin songs got tiresome, but I still love afroman's music. And I think maybe he used waiting to inhale as a transition into a new style of music. The only fuckin song in frobama was smokin weed, and it almost seemed like he was parodying himself. Then his skit "mr. Wisdom" he was told he was fuckin too many people in his songs. But he's afroman. He will do rap how we wants to rap and do what he needs to make his living.
Re: The State of Things
The thing about it is, it's all about opinions and opinions are just like assholes, everybody has one. Whether you like Fro with the 2 Zig Zaggs, The Hungry Hustlers, or on his own, it don't matter none, because he's doin' what he wants and that's all that matters.
If you don't like a particular Cd of his, don't buy it. If you don't like what kind of show he puts on, don't buy a ticket. It's that simple. Ain't no need to spread negativity around, just because you don't like someone's music.
Myself, I'd love to hear Fro with a P-Funk style band. Horns, female back up singers, keys, guitars, drums, percussion, crazy costumes, etc..like this show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqlWw6uqbd0&feature=related
But I don't run his show, he does and if ya don't like it y'all can go take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut.
If a band or artist wants to go for longevity, they gots to do what they want, not what other folks wants them to do. Look at a band like the Rolling Stones. They haven't been successful for 46 years by playing the same shit they did in 1963. They evolved and changed their sound all the time.
You can't expect a true musician to play the same song over and over all the fuckin' time without them getting tired of it sometime.
I know I'm just drunk n high right now, but I do know what the fuck I'm talkin' 'bout..... I think
Do whatchyou like
Re: The State of Things
thanks
Re: The State of Things
This is what's up. I don't know if AFROMUTHAFUCKINMAN was really Afroman or not with so many afroman pretenders out there, but if it wasn't, dude's still got a good point. I've been an Afroman fan since the Because I Got High album came out. He was an instant hit in my book and inspired me to do more with rappin. The next album I got was the original Waitin to Inhale with the original ten or whatever remake songs and I LOVED it. Then I got the new version and back tracked to afroholic. I now have all of afroman's albums, including a copy of My Frolosophy I got from a buddy from the west coast. I enjoyed the Hungry Hustlers. But with or without them, afroman is still afroman and he still makes music that fills my CD player and my phone each and every day! Fro, you gonna be around for a long time, mane! And so will your true fans! I'll c seein you in may in burningham! BUCCOCC!

Re: The State of Things
Damn Fro! Like James brown says; "I can do wheelin', I can do dealin' (yes you can!!) But I don't do no damn squealin'
I can dig rappin', I'm ready!! I can dig scrappin'
But I can't dig that backstabbin' (Oh No!!)
The brother get ready!! Thats a fact!!
Get ready you Mother, for the big payback (The big Payback!!)
Let me hit 'em hit'em!! Hey Hey!! WOOOOOOOOOOOO! "
If you're doing a country album, Reeferseed needs to be on it. I got the perfect song too.
Re: The State of Things
ITS STUPENDOUS!!!
I LOVE HOW THINGS ARE RIGHT NOW. ALL OF THE TIME CONSUMING, TROUBLE MAKING, BACC STABBING, TWO FACE, HYPOCRITE, FINANCIAL LIABILITIES ARE OUT OF MY LIFE. DO YOU KNOW WHO ELSE IS OUT OF MY LIFE? FANS, THAT ARE NOT FANS. BUT THEY ARE WHAT I CALL PREPROGRAMMED AMERICAN IDOL WANNA BE SIMPLE SIMON RECTUM HOLE PUPPETS. FOR EXAMPLE, ONE OF THESE FANS IS A INTERNET GANGSTER NAMED DRAGONMERE, DRAGONQUEER, FAG AND QUEER. WHATEVER. DRAGONQUEER WAS THE MOST DEVOTED, SUPPORTIVE FAN I HAD EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. HE HAS TRANSFORMED BEFORE MY VERY EYES. DRAGONQUEER IS EQUIVALENT TO A GIRLFRIEND, THATS A TRAITOR WHORE. INSTEAD OF FUCCIN AND SUCCIN MY DICC, SHE IS FUCCIN AND SUCCIN ALL OF MY ENEMIES THEN TAKIN SIDES WITH THEM, IN A SUTTLE BUT OBVIOUS WAY. DRAGONQUEER DONT LIKE MY NEW ALBUMS BECAUSE HE IS DOWN WITH EVERYONE THAT CROSSED ME, AND CANT BE ON THE ALBUM. DRAGONQUEER IS THE NEW VOICE OF ALL MY ENEMIES. DRAGONMERE THE FAG AND QUEER DONT LIKE MY TOUR SET UP BECAUSE THE COVER BAND I FIRED (HIS PERSONAL FRIENDS, MY PERSONAL ENEMIES) ARE NOT WITH ME. DRAGONMERE THE FAG AND QUEER WANTS TO SEE MY ENEMIES PERFORM AT MY SHOW, ON MY STAGE, IN FRONT OF MY CROWD, AT MY CLUB, ON MY NIGHT. I DONT AGREE WITH DRAGONQUEERS NEGATIVE, BACC STABBIN, ENEMY ATTITUDE. VERBALLY FARTING ON MY WEBSITE, AND STINKING UP THE PLACE WHERE MY DEVOTE FAN BASE VISITS. HOW INSULTING, DRAGONMERE, YOU WHORE!!! PIMPS PROMISE WHORES THE WORLD AND DONT GIVE THEM SHIT. BECAUSE THEY ARE SCANDALOUS BACC STABBING BITCHES LIKE YOU. MY LAME PARODY ALBUM GOT ME LIVING SWELL. POCCETS QUITE FLUFFY THESE DAYS. BE ANOTHER RAPPERS FAN, BACCSTAB THEM LIKE YOU DOING ME, I WONT BE JEALOUS. YOU LIKE BANDS BITCH? CHECK OUT LIMP BISCUIT MOTHERFUCCER. OR SALIVIA. SPEAKIN OF SALIVIA SUCC MY DICC. I BUCCOCC BETTER THAN EVER NOW. I STAGED THAT WHOLE (I CANT BUCCOCC SHIT) SO A FAKE FAN WOULD TRY TO USE THAT AGAINST ME. I AM STILL GETTIN PAID WITH MY RUINED VOICE. LOL. YOU SAY YOU HATE JUMPIN ON THE SELL OUT BAND WAGON, WELL I DONT. I'MA SELL OUT (WHATEVER THE HELL THAT IS). GETTIN STRAIGHT PAID, SELLIN OUT THE TRUNK, SELLIN OUT THE STORE, SELLIN OUT THE SHOW. THAT LAME PARODY HAS CONNECTED ME WITH AN OPEN MINDED, LUCRATIVE, YOUNG UP AND COMING GENERATION. SO I DONT HAVE TO DEPEND OR IMPRESS SOME OLD DICCHEAD LIKE DRAGONMERE THE FAG AND QUEER OR MY ENEMIES HE REPRESENTS. I LOVE THESE DAYS. I REALLY DO. I MAKE ALOT OF PAPER, NO CREW MAKES THINGS EASIER, SIMPLER AND MORE FUN. I AM HAVING THE FUN NOW I WOULD HAVE HAD IF I HAD NO CREW IN THE BEGINNING. BUT WE LIVE AND LEARN. AS IT STANDS I HAVE NO DESIRE FOR A BACC STABBIN BAND. I HAVE NO DESIRE FOR A BACC STABBIN ENTEROUGE. I HAVE NO DESIRE TO IMPRESS BACC STABBIN FANS. I DONT EVEN WANT THEM POSTIN ON MY WEBSITE ANYMORE. IT MAKES ME FORGET I AM WEALTHY. IT TEMPTS ME TO KILL ONE OF THESE FAGGOT ASS INTERNET GANGSTERS. I AM REALLY NOT MAD AT THIS BITCH ASS MOTHERFUCCA. I AM NOT RETALIATING BACC AT THE INSULTING FAGGOT ASS STATEMENTS THIS ASSHOLE HAS MADE. I AM JUST VOICING MY OPINION ABOUT DICC SUCCIN, FAGGOT ASS BACC STABBIN FAKE FANS. WHO SERVE AS A PUPPET FOR MY ENEMIES. DRAGONMERE, THE FAG AND QUEER IS A PUPPET. MY ENEMIES HAVE LUBRICATED THEIR HAND AND ARM AND HAVE SLIPPED THEIR HAND UP DRAGONMERES ASS. AND STARTED TALKIN BIG SHIT IN LIFE AND ON MY WEBSITE. ALL THE HATERS ARE GONE. MY SHIT IS TOGETHER, I HAVE ALL KINDS OF NEW ALBUMS LIKE FROBAMA, MARIJUAINA MUSIC, WORLDS GREATEST WINO, MY FIRST COUNTRY ALBUM (SAVE A CADILAC RIDE A HOMEBOY) AND MUCH MUCH MORE. I WILL BE POSTING ON MY BOARD, I WILL BE KEEPIN DRAGONMERE THE FAG AND QUEER CLEAR. I WOULD START ANOTHER STREET TEAM BUT I DONT WANT NO MORE PUNK ASS BITCHES LIKE DRAGONMERE THE FAG AND QUEER. SO I WILL PROMOTE MYSELF BY MYSELF. JUST LIKE I DID SELL YOUR DOPE, AND BECAUSE I GOT HIGH. FUCC A BITCH. ITS GOIN ON. YOU MIGHT ASK, WHY RESPOND? I EQUATE RESPONDING TO A PIMP SMACCIN A BITCH WHEN SHE GETS OUTTA LINE. PUTTIN HER ON THE TRACC NEXT TO HER GIRLFRIEND, POBITCH. MAKIN MAXIMUM PROFIT OFF OF HER HO ASS. I LOVE THINGS THE WAY THEY ARE. IM STILL IN MY HAY DAY, MAKIN A MAJOR PAY DAY, EVERYDAY. I LOVE MY REAL FANS. I ENJOY THEM EVERY SINGLE DAY. I DONT MISS NO TWO FACE, BACC STABBIN, TIME CONSUMIN, TROUBLE MAKIN, MOTHERFUCCAS, MOTHERFUCCA. SERIOUSLY, FUCC YOU. AND POBITCH. HI DARRELL, SORRY ABOUT THE DIVORCE. NEVER FESS UP TO THE BUNNY RANCH. WHERE IS YOUR STREET SENSE? WELL, WHEN YOU GET UNPACCED. SEND MY PICTURES. OPEN YOUR MOUTH WIDE DJ CLUELESS, HERE COMES THE DICC. CLOSE YOUR MOUTH AROUND IT. NOW THATS WHAT I CALL WELL PUT. BITCH. FUCC ALL YALL.
Re: The State of Things
I find it interesting that this is the second post I see.
I haven't been on for maybe 2 years or so, and I started to wonder who was still hanging around here.
I see a lot of familiar names.
I agree with you Dragonmere, Fro is no longer interesting.
Everything that was supposed to happen didn't
Overall everything I liked about him died.
Re: The State of Things
I have been listening to Afroman just about everyday for about 4 years now. No joke...I mean, when I wake up in the morning, I put on something upbeat like "I've been Hustlin". When my Mother passed away , I kept playing "Hush" because it made me feel better. When I smoke, I love to listen to songs like "I live in a Van". When I am cruisin' I listen to "Hittin' Switches". What I am trying to say is that Afroman has been a huge part of my life. I listen to him in just about every situation that I go through to help me get through the day. But the sad thing is that I just keep listening to the same songs because he has not dropped a good cd since Drunk N' High. The past two parody albums are garbage. And I mean that because Afro is capable of puttin out such better music. Nobody wants to listen to him talk about the different girls he has fucked on every single song on the CD. We wanna hear about the days when you used to sell crack, run from the cops, kick it with friends and have a good time. Bring that music back Afro! We know you still got it in you!
Re: The State of Things
What up Dragonmere. I used to be on here two...three years ago, also (I was originally "Juggalo420" then switched over to "Scorpio420"). I pretty much stopped posting around the time the whole PoBoy thing went down.
I, too, came here on a whim after picking up Waiting To Inhale a few weeks ago.
My thoughts on the new album....I'm not sure. It took a while for 4RO:20 to grow on me (the girlfriend I had at the time hated it); maybe I need to give the new album some time, also.
I also miss the storytelling rhymes/raps; but then again, I guess Afroman's music has "evolved" from what it used to be into what it is now.
I just wish that he would make his first two albums physically available instead of download only.
Re: The State of Things
I have gone to a couple shows in the last year or two, and I've got to say, they have been real short. It seemed like just when your gettin feelin good, ...it ends. has anybody else experienced this at recent fro shows?
Re: The State of Things
Expect a new Fro album in Feb. possibly released nationwide on a major label. It could be a re-release of Waiting to Inhale with 10 or so new songs.
CooP!
Re: The State of Things
I kniow I said we'd be finishing "Light Em Up" a couple weeks ago, but things got moved back. I'm hoping to have it finished by Jan.1 I'll keep y'all posted.
Re: The State of Things
I remember back to about the beginning of 2006 when I first discovered afroholic...the even better times. I would check this forum and read all of these posts about new fro cd's and when they were rumored to drop. I agree 100% with what your saying about fro. Is he actually going to release any new material or is it just rumors and is it even worth the money.
Re: The State of Things
We don't have anything for sale yet. Light Em Up will be our single. The full CD will be released 4/20/08. We might have another single out before then. I'll be sure to let you know when we've got downloads ready.
For know you can hear a live version of Fight , Fuck, and Drink and some jingles we did for the High Life Lounge on our myspace http://www.myspace.com/jrshighrollers

Re: The State of Things
What's up Dragomere and Clueless? We're working on a song with Fro on it. After hearing the ruff mix of it, I think it would be cool if Fro did an album with an actual band and songs instead of just beats and bass. It would be something different and I think it would sound killer. here's a little sample of it for you guys. My vocals on here are just scratch vocals. We're planning on finishing it next week. This is one of my favorite rap of Fro's in a while. go to this link and click download. http://download.yousendit.com/6405657D70A39BC1
Re: The State of Things
I just didn't enjoy the "new" album(s), didn't feel his new touring set-up that doesn't include at least some of the ungodly talent he has worked with in the past...
I guess it's just that so much potential was wasted.
Very well put. I agree that there was so much talent that was wasted, such a shame for not only the fans but music in general. Things were taking off to bad things got cut short.
Not to mention the hundreds of broken promises. [/b]
Ya Fros GREAT at doing that, know that all to well.
What happen to slaughter!!!!? Slaughter is doing well, talked to one of the HH recently and mentioned that slaughter is doing good.
Dragonmere I agree with most of what you said. I dont often say much in public but figured I would considering I just happened to stop by this site which I have not done for quite some time.
